Two at Horizons, Inc. achieve ASPRS Photogrammetrist certifications

11 Aug 2006

Rapid City, South Dakota (August 2006) Horizons' sales managers Becky Morton, CMS, CP, and David Holm, CP, were recognized in a formal announcement today by Horizons’ President and General Manager, Larry Deibert, for achieving the ASPRS Certified Photogrammetrist (CP) designation. Prior to passing a half-day intensive certification exam, both candidates first passed individual peer reviews and an evaluation process designed by ASPRS to ensure minimum educational qualifications and professional photogrammetric experience requirements were met.

Morton and Holm will receive official certification by mail from ASPRS after having successfully demonstrated professional capabilities in all phases of mapping and mensuration requirements including planning and specifying photography or other imagery requirements, and managing projects for mapping and interpretation.

“Becoming certified and carrying an ASPRS designation lets clientele know that as individuals, and collectively, as an organization, we subscribes to a high level of professionalism,” said Larry Deibert, President and General Manager of Horizons. “Becky and Dave have set high standards for themselves and they are commited to continually seeking professional achievements while rapid technology sweeps the industry.”

Morton has been with Horizons since 1989 and is also an ASPRS Certified Mapping Scientist – GIS/LIS. She is an active ASPRS member, currently serving a two-year term as Photogrammetric Applications Division Assistant Director.

Holm holds a Master’s Degree in Geography from South Dakota State University. He worked for one year as a surveyor and four as a field manager for an oil and gas exploration company until 1999, when he began working for Horizons. He is currently Horizons’ regional sales manager and a corporate sustaining member of ASPRS.
